Legal Aid Family Lawyer
Location: Devon
The firm is now seeking to support growth by recruiting ambitious, dedicated and hard-working Family lawyers who are seeking to progress their careers in a flexible and supportive working environment.
An exceptional experienced paralegals will also be considered for the position.
The work on offer will be legal aid work and will be predominantly private law children and domestic abuse. The role may allow for some public law care work in a support role.
Our client base includes a diverse range of people, some being particularly vulnerable, a proportion of whom have experienced domestic, sexual or criminal abuse or have mental health issues and so you will need to possess demonstrable skills and attributes in order to best serve our clients. For these clients a face to face relationship with a lawyer can make a huge difference.
The successful applicant is likely to have:
NQ Lawyer/Legal Executive (consideration to an exceptional experienced paralegal will be given)
Legal Aid trained and/or experienced
Family Law trained including LPC modules and or supervised training period including Family work (private / legal aid)
Willingness to work from the office to undertake face to face interviews and to undertake own Court advocacy
Experience of working in a specialist family law team, including a substantial case load of Legal Aid work
Looking to manage a varied and challenging caseload
Excellent interpersonal and client care skills
Advocacy experience
Ability to manage a heavy legal aid caseload using CCMS and manage case to final payment
IT skills sufficient to manage own documentation and communications.
Job type: Full-time
Salary: £30,000- £40,000 NQ Legal Executive/Solicitor (depending on experience/qualification) - experienced paralegal other banding may apply.
